Qouponi x Pink Caravan: Empowering Women Through Breast Cancer Early Detection

This October, Qouponi is proud to join hands with Pink Caravan, a Pan-UAE breast cancer initiative under the umbrella of Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP). Launched under the patronage of UAE leadership, Pink Caravan has been at the forefront of providing free clinical screenings, mammograms, and life-saving health education to women across all seven emirates.

Our shared objective for Pink October goes beyond raising awareness—we aim to empower every woman in the UAE with the knowledge to perform regular Breast Self-Examinations (BSE) and to provide an easy way for our community to support cancer patients through purposeful shopping.

Why Breast Cancer Early Detection Matters

Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women worldwide, but there is strong hope: over 90% of breast cancer cases are treatable when detected early.

Early detection not only dramatically increases survival rates but also allows for milder, more effective treatment options. By taking just five minutes each month to check your body, you take a proactive step in protecting your health and well-being.

How to Perform a Breast Self-Examination (BSE) in 3 Simple Steps

Understanding your body’s normal baseline makes it easier to spot subtle changes early. Medical experts from FOCP recommend performing a self-check once a month, ideally 3 to 5 days after your period ends.

1. Look (In Front of the Mirror)

Stand in front of a well-lit mirror with your arms on your hips:

Inspect your breasts for changes in size, shape, or symmetry.
Look for skin alterations, such as dimpling, redness, puckering, or changes in nipple position.

2. Touch (Standing or in the Shower)

Raise one arm behind your head and use the flat pads of your three middle fingers on the opposite hand:

Move in small, overlapping circular motions across the entire breast area.
Check from your collarbone down to the bottom of your ribcage, and from your armpit to your chest bone.

3. Feel (Lying Down)

Lie down flat on your back with a small pillow under your right shoulder and your right arm behind your head:

This position flattens the breast tissue evenly against your chest wall, making it easier to feel deeper tissue.
Repeat the circular motion using light, medium, and firm pressure.

When to consult a healthcare professional: If you feel a new lump, notice skin dimpling, experience persistent localized pain, or observe unusual nipple discharge, schedule a clinical checkup promptly. Most breast changes are non-cancerous (benign), but getting examined gives total peace of mind.
